Hundreds Of SEIU UHW Members Rally In Oakland To Protest SEIU Pres Stern Threat To Take Over Local
| Hundreds of SEIU-UHW members from thoughout Northern California rallied to speak out and protest any attempted trusteeship by SEIU president Andy Stern. Stern in a letter sent to the 150,000 member local listed a whole series of "alleged" charges including helping to oppose a raid by SEIU leader Dennis Rivera of teachers in Puerto Rico and meeting privately with the CNA leadership at a California AFL-CIO meeting in San Diego. The homecare membership also voted by over 90% not to merge with a homecare local led by Stern operative Tyrone Freeman.
