Boycott McCormick & Schmick Restaurants, Stop the union busting!

McCormick & Schmick is the new owner of Spenger's Restaurant in Berkeley, CA. Spenger's was a union house and provided good conditions and benefits for its workers for more than 50 years. In September 1998, it closed when the union refused to agree to health insurance takeaways. However, Spenger's didn't close permanently. The owners leased it to McCormick & Schmick to manage, with the original owners still getting a share of the revenues. When it reopened this December 3rd, the original workers were not recalled. Instead, they were made to file applications for employment as new hires, although many had worked at Spenger's for years or even decades. Even then, most of those who submitted applications were not rehired.

McCormick & Schmick owns restaurants across the country. None of them are union. Please join the fight of restaurant workers, community members, and Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees Local 2850 against this union busting company:

Locate the McCormick & Schmick-owned restaurant near you and don't patronize it (a list follows below).
Be an active leafletter at the restaurant doors, urging others to not patronize and let McCormick & Schmick know that we won't stand for their violation of workers rights.
