Business Leaders Target Labor Laws, Safety Rules
Business leaders said they're mobilizing to win an across-the-board tax cut, revamp Depression-era labor laws and overturn workplace safety rules imposed in the last days of the Clinton administration.
After eight years of being on the defensive on labor issues, "we're going to get in the game and try to move the agenda," said Patrick Cleary, the National Association of Manufacturers vice president for human resources policy.
U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Thomas Donohue told a separate news conference that labor rules and taxes will top his group's priorities. "We will be very, very aggressive on the question of taxes."
