Dear Friends of Labor,

AFGE District 11 and Local 3197 are organizing a public forum to be held at the Labor Temple, Seattle, on July 1st, 5-7 pm.  The title is:

Should Government Go Private?
How Will It Affect You?
A Congressional Inquiry, Moderated by Congressman Jim McDermott.

We are expecting a small delegation of federal legislators to attend.
We expect a good display of union and organizational banners outside the Labor Temple, from  4:30 to 5:00 pm, on Tuesday, July 1st, which will be a photo-op for media that come.  We see this as a solemn statement to the government - people lined in an organized and dignified manner with their banners along the block on First Ave. in front of the Labor Temple. A declaration by workers and the public that privatization of public services WILL be discussed by us, NOT  dictated to us.
